When you hear metastatic prostate cancer, how worried should you be about prostate cancer death..? This SEER analysis describes cause of death among a nationwide cohort of over 26K men with a new diagnosis of metastatic prostate cancer. At 5 years, survival was 26%. More than 3 of 4 deaths (78%) were due to prostate cancer, and most deaths occurred within 2 years of diagnosis. Unsurprisingly, death from causes other than prostate cancer was more common in older ages and was largely comprised by cardiac death.
