In this Chinese patterns of failure study following D2 resection of gastric cancer, regional recurrences (19%) and less so anastomotic site recurrences (6%) far outweighed recurrences in either the remnant stomach (0%) or gastric bed (1%). The authors thus conclude that post-D2 operative radiation volumes can safely omit the latter in the setting of negative margins and lack of adjacent organ involvement in order to reduce functional toxicity. | Xu, Cancer Med 2020
