Preserved.

Female childhood cancer survivors are at risk of premature ovarian failure. In particular, 5-10% are at risk of acute ovarian failure—meaning permanent ovarian failure within 5 years of treatment. But it can be difficult to accurately predict individual risk based on treatment received. Two accurate risk models and an associated online calculator have been developed to give providers, patients, and families a much more accurate risk assessment. Factors that heavily influence the model are age, receipt and dose of anthracyclines, receipt of hematopoietic stem cell transplant, and radiation dose to the ovaries. Either the prescribed radiation dose or an actual ovarian max dose can be entered into the model for varying levels of accuracy. TBL: Hard numbers can help patients decide when to pursue pre-treatment fertility preservation. | Clark, Lancet Oncol 2020
