Canopy cool.

Depending on your political leanings, climate change may or may not be happening. But for scientists that are concerned with all the supporting data, these authors suggest that our best hope is, in fact, trees. More specifically, the restoration of trees around the globe is what they propose to be the most effective strategy for climate change mitigation. They predict that an additional roughly 1 billion hectares of canopy cover is achievable, with a resultant 200 gigatonnes of carbon that would support forests and woodlands. | Bastin, Science 2019
