Anamored.

A tough thing to witness in advanced gastrointestinal malignancies is the insidious toll cachexia takes on many patients. That’s partly because therapeutic options are so limited. Anamorelin is a ghrelin receptor agonist that has proven beneficial in patients with advanced lung cancer. If you remember back to med school, ghrelin is the “hunger hormone”--although there’s a lot more to it than that. In this study, patients with advanced GI malignancies received anamorelin to stimulate appetite and increase body weight. Over 60% saw either stable or increased lean body mass with a mean increase of nearly 2 kg. | Hamauchi, Cancer 2019
