Ageism.

Headline: Older patients get cancer more but enroll in trials less. This massive meta-analysis of >300 randomized trials for the Big Four (lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers) conducted over the last two decades reveals median ages of enrollees were consistently >6 years younger than that of their cancer-specific populations, a discrepancy exaggerated over time and in industry-sponsored trials. TBL: Generalizability of cancer trials is being threatened by a widening gap in age disparities between enrollees and real-life patients. | Ludmir, JAMA Oncol 2019
