#DayOfTheOvary

In case you somehow missed it, yesterday was the UN-endorsed #DayOfTheGirl dedicated to highlighting global efforts to empower young women through education. It’s only appropriate to follow this up with encouragement to educate young female patients about available approaches to curb the impact of cancer treatment on future fertility. While recent ASCO guidelines on fertility preservation convey that techniques surrounding cryopreservation and eventual autologous transplant of ovarian tissue are rapidly evolving, these Swiss and German authors would like to point out that safety and efficacy of this technique are already established for post-pubescent patients with low likelihood of ovarian mets. TBL: Autologous ovarian transplant is a noteworthy option for most young women hoping to protect their post-treatment endocrine function. | von Wolff, J Clin Oncol 2018
