Lemonade.

What can we be learning from business colleagues? Check out this interesting article in the Harvard Business Review that looks at a 10 year study of several thousand successful business executives. They describe three “catapults” that were common among those who quickly reached the top. 1) Take on bigger small time roles. Say what? Basically, take more prominent positions in smaller organizations as opposed to “playing it safe” with lesser positions within larger institutions. 2) Bite off more than you can chew. A lot of successful business leaders took on roles in their organizations for which they may not have been fully qualified. But, opportunism. 3) Fix a huge mess. Turn around a struggling department, satellite clinic, or research lab. In other words, look around for some lemons to make your colleagues some sweet lemonade.
