Risky business.

This NCDB analysis applied a risk calculator to over 200K men with high risk prostate cancer status post prostatectomy performed between 2010-2017. It predicted 16% of these men would have had nodal and / or  distant mets revealed on upfront PSMA staging. This is important because initial PSMA staging would have allowed this substantial number of men to appropriately proceed with upfront radiation to more comprehensively treat all sites of radiographic disease. How substantial these numbers are to insurance companies Is anyone’s guess. | Brant, JAMA Netw Open 2022
