Here is an observational study of auto-contouring learned from 767 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) across eight international sites. In a validation cohort of 1421 NSCLC cases contoured by both machine and man, there was no notable difference in radiation dose delivery. Most importantly, machine “assistance,” with auto-contours edited by physicians versus de novo physician contours, required one-third the physician time with interobserver variability reduced by 32%.
