Sounds good.

This meta-analysis looks at four studies including 238 patients receiving cisplatin-based chemo with or without sodium thiosulfate. Sodium what? Sodium thiosulfate is used to prevent apoptosis and can be administered intravenously (as it was in 3 studies here) or transtympanically (as in 1 study) to avoid counteracting the antineoplastic effect of cisplatin while working in the troubled cochlea. Anyway, the 158 patients who received sodium thiosulfate did have a significantly lower risk of ototoxicity (RR 0.61) with no difference in survival outcomes, supporting further investigation into this strategy. | Chen, JAMA Netw Open 2021
