A recent report of 63 patients with previous SARS-CoV-2 reveals that plasma antibodies maintain neutralizing activity against the wild-type virus even at 12 months, but with notably less protection against variants, while those who received one dose of a mRNA vaccine achieve 50x the neutralizing activity, including higher activity against variants than previously-infected unvaccinated folks have against the wildtype.
