In a 180 turn from their position in the pre-COVID era, ASTRO is now urging CMS to expand its leniency for supervision of radiation delivery from “direct” to “general” for all hospital and free-standing clinics, including image guidance, in order to limit physician exposure. They even go so far as to ask that physicians who are not board-certified in radiation oncology be allowed to take the wheel if needed in the case of severe workforce shortages. | ASTRO Advocacy 2020
