Inefficiency, not insufficiency.

That’s the appraisal of the ubiquitous bottlenecking of patients in emergency rooms, where they wait for hours to be admitted for serious conditions. At least according to resident physicians training “in Boston.” In other words, even though hospitals are closing their doors left and right, there are still sufficient beds to meet most needs if not thwarted by more lucrative specialties having first dibs at inefficiently occupying hospital resources. | Dalton & Tonellato, NPR 2019
