Yet another population study, this one using the California Cancer Registry, demonstrates superior survival outcomes when surgery for early-stage pancreatic cancer is performed at a high-volume and/or National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center. The conclusion, however, is that such centers lack “high value care” because their costs fail to fall under the median.
