The data on vitamin D is all over the place. Including possible improvements in progression-free survival among patients with GI cancer. When it comes to bone health, though, the data isn’t looking so solid. This randomized trial of standard (400 IU) versus high-dose (4000 or 10,000 IU) vitamin D3 showed that bone mineral density actually decreased in healthy people who took higher doses. | Burt, JAMA 2019
