From the horse’s mouth.

This is no good way to lose a child, but that doesn’t mean some aren’t better than others. This Aussie qualitative study had the novel idea to go straight to the source, asking 26 bereaved parents of children who died in the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) if the process could be have been assuaged in any way. Recurring themes included visits from staff you know, more private and less “medicalized” rooms, and better options for getting the heck out of the ICU before death. | Butler, Pediatr Crit Care Med 2019
