Show me the money.

Sure, saving lives is great in itself or whatever. But, when it comes to speaking politicians’ language, we all know money talks. This economic analysis reports that cancer deaths in the US resulted in nearly $100 billion in lost wages in 2015 alone. Not surprising were the big discrepancies across region and disease site, with the biggest losses seen in the South and among patients dying with lung cancer, quantifying a clear economic benefit to common sense public health measures and cancer research. | Islami, JAMA Oncol 2019
