This meta-analysis of articles relating emotional intelligence to medical malpractice suits demonstrates some clear-cut demographics and practice patterns associated with higher rates of claims: male gender, middle-age (40-50 years), practicing a surgical specialty, communication skills (or lack thereof), and—shocker—low patient satisfaction ratings and higher number of “unsolicited” patient complaints. | Shouhed, JAMA Surg 2019
