Equal opportunity endocrine therapy.

We recently questioned if worse outcomes among male patients with high breast cancer recurrence scores were due to underutilization of endocrine therapy (ET). A new NCDB query says: Probably. Among over 10K male patients with breast cancer and their nearly 100K female counterparts, rates of appropriate use of ET were 67% versus 79%, respectively, with men receiving ET having a significantly decreased adjusted risk of death (HR 0.7). The biggest predictor by far of receiving appropriate ET? Receiving adjuvant radiation (i.e., another physician’s input). | Venigalla, JAMA Oncol 2018
