Who doesn’t love Norwegians? Now we have their randomized trial of image guidance for prostate radiotherapy to love, too. Everybody got 78 Gy in 39 fractions to the prostate with either a 15 mm PTV margin and weekly portal imaging or a 7 mm PTV margin and daily cone beam CT. They found no difference in patient-reported rectal or urinary toxicity. Mull this one over in the context of higher reported rates of disease progression with more complex treatment techniques. TBL: Be careful with tight PTV margins with daily cone beam CT for prostate cancer because it doesn’t seem to improve patient-reported toxicity.
