Gas in the rectum can be an issue with daily alignment and treatment delivery during prostate radiation therapy. A very practical trial in PRO randomized men receiving prostate/prostate bed radiation to anti-flatulent medication versus no medication to determine if they required fewer re-planning scans. They didn't. The variation in rectal diameter was also similar between groups. There was no mention of family member quality of life.
