#MedToo

Sexual harassment has come into sharp focus in recent weeks, transforming work environments as we know them. The media world has been turned on its head, fake and real-life top elected officials are dropping like flies, the TIME person of the year isn’t a person, and there’s even a democratic senator from Alabama. Unfortunately, medicine too has suffered from this insidious plague. This week’s op-ed in NEJM expounds on recent data conveying that almost one-third of surveyed female academic physicians have experienced workplace sexual harassment. Professional settings across the world are starting to understand that the first step to fixing this problem is recognizing it, and we’re doing our small part to shine a light on #MedToo.
