Liquid biopsies.

It’s catchy to say, but don’t get caught not knowing what you’re talking about. Good thing this article in last month’s JAMA Onc will get you up to speed on the general topic of sequencing plasma cell-free DNA (aka liquid biopsies). The important points are understanding the different ways of performing liquid biopsies, the potential uses, and (most importantly) the major limitations of the information they provide. Though the data isn’t quite there yet, there is undoubtedly great promise for the future use of this non-invasive technique. And at least now we know what we’re talking about.
