Shocked.
This pilot study of six patients receiving stereotactic body radiation (SBRT) for refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT) explores the use of a proprietary computational electrocardiogram (ECG) mapping algorithm to aid in target delineation. Yep, itās about as fancy as it sounds. Basically, patients underwent a noninvasive 12-lead ECG test that then projected the VT exit site on a 3D heart model. As confirmation of the accuracy of the model, among 3 patients with VT exit sites known from prior invasive electrophysiology studies, āā7 out of 7 computed VT exit sites fell in the same cardiac segments. All patients received 25Gyx1, with half of treatments delivered during end expiration due to cardiac respiratory motion ā„0.6cm (measured by movement of implanted cardiac device tip) or target ā¤2 cm from stomach. And further supporting the efficacy of SBRT for this indication, the average number of shocks delivered per patient was 23 in the 6 months prior to SBRT and 0.67 in the 6 months after (two shocks for two patients each). | Ho, Heart Rhythm O2 2021
