The IDEA Collaboration was a series of randomized trials comparing 3 months versus 6 months of adjuvant FOLFOX or CAPEOX for patients with stage III colon cancer. Despite enrolling nearly 13,000 patients over 6 separate trials, there were too few events to prove non-inferiority of 3 months of therapy despite a <1% difference in 3-year disease free survival. Here we have final overall survival results from the IDEA Collaboration. At 5 years, overall survival was 82.4% after 3 months of chemo compared to 82.8% after 6 months. Once again, there weren’t enough events to prove non-inferiority. In subset analysis, 3 months of CAPEOX was non-inferior to 6 months of CAPEOX for overall survival.
